shocked the country, The Command of the Armed Forces has also ordered the Military
Gaula, their anti-extortion and kidnapping unit, to support "the operation to search for the
parents of the soccer player Luis Díaz," The kidnapping occurs just before the local and
regional elections that will take place this Sunday in the country, for which thousands of
soldiers and police officers have been mobilized to towns and roads in order to ensure the
normal development of the elections.
Colombia turns to Luis Diaz
The Colombian Football Federation (FCF) rejected "the security situation" that the Diaz
family is experiencing and expressed confidence that the authorities will be able to rescue
Luis Manuel Diaz, the forward's father, just as they did with his mother, Cilenis Marulanda,
"From the FCF, we stand in solidarity with him and his entire family and we call on the
relevant authorities to act as quickly as possible to resolve the situation," the Colombian
Football Federation stated in a message on the social media platform X.
